Save a connection
- Open Settings → Providers.
- Select Add provider and choose a Preset.
- Check the API address and add a key if your provider requires one.
- Select Save. The provider’s models will be available in the assistant.

The provider stores the connection and credentials. The model is what you choose to chat with.
Choose from the assistant
- If you have no connection yet, select Configure AI provider in the chat.
- With a saved provider, open Choose model. Search by model or provider and select an option.
- The selection is saved automatically for your next message. An ongoing response finishes with the model it started with; the conversation is preserved.
The selector shows the saved catalog and refreshes it after five minutes. Use the refresh icon to update each provider. If discovery fails, saved models remain available. Enter model lets you type an identifier when the catalog is unavailable.
The list shows models advertised by the provider; it does not guarantee image, tool or assistant protocol support. When you change providers, the conversation context needed to respond is sent to the selected provider with your next message.
Test the connection
In Settings → Providers, Test checks discovery and sends a short query without project data. Choose models and enter manual identifiers from the assistant’s combobox.
The connection and selected model are saved in this browser for all your projects. A ChatGPT subscription does not replace an API key.
